System Shutdown

Incident Description

Persistent TSM shutdown. The user receives one of the following messages and is then automatically logged out of TSM:

Resolution

This may occur when a user is instructed to log out using the logged in users screen and have unsaved data in TSM – such as an unfinished job card. TSM registers user logins in a table file called syswatch.dbf. Removing this table and restarting TSM will solve the problem.

Note: You will need to log all TSM users out before attempting this resolution. If you have any problems with the following process or are unsure on how to perform any of the steps listed, please do not hesitate to call TSM Technical Support.

1. Browse to the TSM directory. In TSM go to the help Menu and select “About TSM”

[Program Information Screen]

2. On the Program Information tab, click “Open Program File Directory”.

3. Alternatively, right-click on the TSM icon on your desktop, select Properties and on the resulting screen, on the Shortcut tab, press the button Open File Location.

4. In the TSM directory find the file syswatch.dbf

5. Move the file out of the TSM directory – thus removing it from there and at the same time creating a backup of it in a different location.

6. Log back into TSM. This should result in the file syswatch.dbf being re-created automatically without the old logout tags. All users should now be able to log back into TSM successfully.

Please call TSM Technical Support if problems persist.
