Updating TSM

Incident Description

TSM needs to be updated to the latest build.

Note: This document covers the process for updating the build, such as from 6.83114 to 6.83115 not the version update such as from 6.5 to 6.6. If you need to perform a version update, please consult the relevant document for specific instructions.

Resolution

In general it is advisable to apply TSM updates when TSM shows an update is available, to take advantage of the latest improvements to the software. An update may also be needed in a case where an issue has been reported to TSM Support and has been fixed. In order to obtain the fixed build of TSM, the TSM Update needs to be applied.

Note:
1. All TSM users will need to be logged out before applying the update to the TSM directory.
2. Close any integrated applications such as The Accounting Post, MYOB Post, Goldmine Link, Exchange Link or other TSM add-on programs. See the list below*
3. TSM update is only available to customers that are covered by TSM maintenance. To get covered by or check your TSM maintenance, email: accounts@theservicemanager.com
4. A backup will be automatically performed before TSM Update is applied.

* If TSM Remote is installed, please run iisreset -stop in cmd on the server computer hosting those sites, and run iisreset -start after update.
* If TSM Mobile is installed, please open service.bat from the start menu, stop the service of “TSM_remote”, and start “TSM_remote” service after update.
* If TSM Live is installed, please open Services manager, stop TSM_LIVE and SQLANYwhere by order.
* If TSM Self Service is install, please open Services manager, stop Apache Tomcat service
Please contact TSM support if you find any problem about switching off the following TSM services.

Steps

1. Start your TSM go to the Utilities menu and Select “Advanced - Update TSM”, as shown in the screenshot below.

2. Click on the Download button as displayed below.

3. Let the download go through, this process should take from 10 to 20 minutes depending on your connection speed

4. After the download finishes, a dialog will come out and ask “Do you want to install the update now?”, click yes.

5. TSM will close itself and a setup window will come out, click on next, read license agreement and select I accept, next.

6. Check the TSM path, if incorrect, change it to the right path. Click on next, then install.

7. The installation progress bar will be displayed. If at this point you receive an error, please call TSM Support 02 8002 2311. Press “Finish” on the final screen to exit the wizard.

8. Start up TSM. An automatic re-index will be performed at this point. At the conclusion of the re-index, TSM will close. Start TSM again, and log in. Other users will now be able to log back in to TSM.

9. If you receive any errors when trying to print a job card to the screen immediately after an update, you can perform the following further troubleshooting steps.

It will re-register some library files and needs to be run on all workstations experiencing any such errors. Otherwise this is the final step in updating TSM to the latest build.
