Security

TSM Security Groups provides a convenient mechanism of restricting access to TSM modules to various users.

TSM lets you assign security access to Security Groups and then assign employees to these groups. Thus it is easy to change security access for the group and then all employees assigned to the group will automatically inherit the new security access.

Typically you will have a number of Security Groups assigning different access levels to different staff. For example, an Admin group might be able to invoice whereas a Technician group might not.

Select the Security group you want to adjust security access for.

Note: The Supervisor group always has all security access options selected.

Only members of the Supervisors security group can access the security setup screen. The security group Supervisor (SPV) is automatically created and cannot be removed. When turning on security for the first time all employees are assigned temporary Supervisor access. You must create your own security groups and assign each employee to a security group as soon as possible (see below for details).

Once you enable security, you can optionally assign each user a password to restrict access to TSM.

Note: You must use an Employee Id to log into TSM once security is enabled. If you have registered TSM then security is enabled by default. As such, it is important to know the Employee ID of at least one employee in TSM. By default, TSM is shipped with two Employee ID’s already setup; JT – Joe Technician and HS – Harry Smith which you can use to login to TSM if you have forgotten to add your own Employee ID’s.

Note: Security is disabled for the TSM Test Drive.

Assigning Security Groups and Passwords to Employees

Each employee is assigned to a single security group. To assign a security group to an employee, go into the Employee Maintenance page from the TSM Task Bar.

Select the Security Group you want your employee assigned to. Each employee can only be assigned to one security group at a time.

Optionally, select a password to assign to this employee by pressing the Change Password button.

Note: Security Level will only appear if security is enabled. Only users with Supervisor access are able to assign security groups.

Setting Security Access

Select the security group that you want to set security access for. You can assign security access for each module of TSM

The use of these categories allows for fine-tuning of the security options you would like implemented. There might be instances where you only want security to affect, say, Products, Receipts and Maintenance information for a certain group. Each tab that applies to a certain section of your business has specific options that you can tailor to suit the needs of a particular security group.
