How to use yousendit.com

Yousendit.com is a free online file-sharing resource. It can be useful for transmitting data to TSM when other means (such FTP) are unavailable or inconvenient. If data safety is an issue, the file being sent can be encrypted using Winzip. If multiple files are being sent, Winzip, again can be used to easily compile them into one (highlight them with the mouse, right-click and select Send To→Compressed (Zipped) folder).

To save time when sending TSM backups, make sure to untick “Include TSM.EXE” before creating a backup file.

1. Bring up a browser and type www.yousendit.com into the Address bar.



2. On the left-hand side, type in your email in the From field and [email protected] in the To field.

3. Press Select File and select the file to be sent, for example the TSM backup file. The site will display the file being sent.

4. Optionally a subject and a message body can be included in the email by pressing the arrow next to the words “Subject (optional)” and “Message (optional)”. For emails directed to [email protected] placing “Case 12345” into the subject line will automatically attach this email and file to job 12345. Use this feature if the file pertains to a particular job and the number is known to you.

Note: The capital “C” and a single space between the word Case and the job number.

The encryption password and any additional information, can be included in the message.

5. Press “Send It”. The site will load the file (this may take a few moments depending on its size).

6. The site will prompt you to be notified of the file’s delivery. This is a paid service, do not select “Yes”:



7. The site will next display a confirmation including the expiry date after which the file will be automatically removed from access. You can follow the link to download the file yourself. You may choose to also sign up for an account, however the site will start prompting for a password when you next use your email address to send from, this is why you may wish to press “Skip” to forego this service.



TSM will be automatically notified of the file’s location and will take action accordingly.
