Common Questions & Answers

Q: I find it inconvenient jumping from screen to screen, is there a better way?

A: TSM has been specifically designed so that you can open multiple screens at one time. Thus for example, you could have Job Cards open in one window and the Maintenance module in another.

Q: We want to manage inventory but do not use part numbers. When adding a part to a job it asks for a part number. How can I add parts by description?

A: When adding a part to a job, press the ? button to the right of the part number. The parts search screen will be displayed. Select the Description sort order and you can then search by description. Each time you now return to parts search, it will remember that you like to search by description and set this sort order automatically.

Q: How is TSM licensed?

A: TSM licensing is based on concurrent-users model. This is the maximum number of simultaneous users that can log-in. You can install TSM on as many PC's as necessary.

Q: How can employees access TSM remotely?

A: Through Citrix Metaframe or Microsoft Windows Terminal Services, employees can access TSM remotely as if they were sitting at the office. Concurrent-users licensing applies. For example, a service department with 3 office-based employees and 10 field engineers with remote access would require a total of 13 TSM licenses. You can also use our TSMLive module which is a web based version of TSM to provide restricted access for employees.

Q: What is the difference between a registration number and an unlock code?

A: The TSM program generates a unique registration number each time you register TSM. This number, the name of the company or person owning the software, and the add-on options purchased are required by Proware to generate an unlock code. As the name suggests, the code unlocks TSM to enable its use. Without this code, TSM is restricted in its functionality.

Q: I want to move my TSM to a different computer. How can this be done?

A: Make a backup of the TSM directory and restore at the destination machine. You will then need to run the TSM Workstation installation to set up the new machine to run TSM.

Q: I'm a service electrician and have for example, one client who might have something like 100 properties under management. I don't see how I can make the site address different to the client address and client billing address.

A: By default, TSM sets the Site ID the same as the Customer ID. If you blank out the Site ID and save the Job Card, you will now be able to enter a site address directly onto the Job Card.
