Updating TSM Remote server

Incident description

TSM Remote server needs to be updated.

Resolution

TSM Remote is installed as a website in IIS (Internet Information Services) on your server. The instructions provided below are general in nature and may differ slightly to your specific setup. Should you encounter any issues when attempting to update your remote server or if you require any help with your specific setup then call TSM Support for assistance.

Note

1. Your TSM Remote connection will be unavailable during the update.

2. Internet Information Service (IIS) will be restarted during the update process.

Server Update

1. Find your TSM Remote server path

Windows 7 / Windows Server 2008 / Small Business Server 2011

a) Open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager, expand TSM Service / Server or another name of service is configured for TSM Remote

b) Locate the tsmservice / tsmserver or another name of service supporting the TSM Remote website

c) Right click on the name and click Explore

d) A new window will be opened, click on the path and copy the location and this is your TSM Remote server path

Windows XP / Windows Server 2003

a) Open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager, expand TSM Service / Server or another name of service is configured for TSM Remote

b) Locate the tsmservice / tsmserver or another name of service supporting the TSM Remote website as following image

c) Right click on the name and click Properties

d) Copy the Local path under Virtual Directory and this is your TSM Remote server path

2. Download and open Update_TSM_Remote.exe

3. Replace the installation path by your TSM Remote server path

4. Then click Next to confirm the correct TSM Remote server path

5. Check Launch Update TSM Remote after the installation finishes

6. Update TSM Remote application will terminate IIS service and update TSM Remote server.

After update finishes, IIS will be restarted.

7. A backup folder of the current setting will be created under the parent folder of TSM Remote server location. The backup folder name is the date when you update TSM Remote server.

8. Open TSM Remote server page to check if service is working fine

9. Login and open Maintenance tab to save all the settings

Remove the old version of TSM Remote before update the new version of TSM Remote
